Solar Impulse 2 performed its #First Flight on June 2 in Switzerland. It successfully landed after a maiden flight of 2 hours 17 minutes! The pilot is Markus Scherdel, test pilot of Solar Impulse.

Flight report :
Take-off time: 2 June 2014 5h36min CET
Landing time: 2 June 2014 7h53min CET
Highest altitude reached: 1670 mètres (5500 ft)
Average ground speed: 55.6 km/h (30 kt)

The only airplane of perpetual endurance, able to fly day and night on solar power, without a drop of fuel.
Our challenge is to attempt the First Round-The-World Solar Flight in 2015. A way for Bertrand Piccard, André Borschberg and their team to demonstrate how pioneering spirit, innovation and clean technologies can change the world.
