Emerald Sunset | PURE MAGIC IN A SEAPLANE
"Flying in Alaska's Backcountry is truly a sight to behold. These seldom touched lands and remote lakes have seen few visitors. Alaska is still truly a wild place.
Of course, much of this land is best accessed by bush plane- floats, skis, or tundra tires help.
On this flight we headed out from Homer, Alaska with Dragonfly Aero, a Seaplane Instruction outfit. Just a hop and skip across Kachemak Bay, we landed at Emerald Lake near Grewingk Glacier.
When people think of Alaska, they think remote wilderness, winter, and maybe even those that have been here think long days of light in the summer.
The fall time, after all the tourists have left, reveals much of the true beauty of Alaska. For several weeks the colors come out in full array. It doesn't last long, but while it does, it's amazing to see.
This flight shows you what's it's like to fly into a backcountry remote lake, at sunset no less.
Special thanks to Dragonfly Aero (www.DragonflyAero.com) for the ride. If you're interested in float instruction in a unique area of Alaska, check these guys out."
